Rockefeller Global Family Office on Friday reeled in a Merrill Lynch team generating $14 million in annual revenue in Ohio, according to two sources familiar with the move.
The Jones Wealth Partners team, which the sources said oversees $2 billion in assets, is led by 43-year Merrill lifer Sidney G. Jones and includes Natalie Lariccia as well as Jones’ sons, Quinn Jones and Liam Jones, according to an announcement from the hiring firm.
The team, which also includes junior advisors Dominic Corso and Stefanos Newman and eight support staff, works out of offices in Columbus and Canfield, Ohio, according to the announcement. They report to Brett Thelander, a former Merrill private wealth manager who leads Rockefeller’s Northern Division.
“Jones Wealth Partners is an exceptional fit to help us expand into additional key wealth markets in Ohio,” Michael Outlaw, president of Rockefeller Global Family Office, said in a statement.
Jones, who started at Merrill in 1982, did not respond to a request for comment sent through social media.
The Jones team had been interested in Rockefeller but was waiting until the firm was ready to open an office in their market, according to Louis Diamond, who said he had known the team for 15 years and introduced them to the New York-based firm.
“What the team really wanted was a firm that felt like Merrill of years ago and Rockefeller checked every box on their list,” Diamond wrote in an email.
A Merrill spokesperson declined to comment. The wirehouse has been on a multi-year push to revitalize its own recruiting efforts and last month added a Morgan Stanley institutional team advising on $13 billion in assets.
For Rockefeller, the move extends a streak of sizable recruits, including in July a UBS Wealth Management USA team managing $800 million in assets in New York City. In June, the firm landed a solo practitioner from Morgan Stanley with $300 million in North Carolina.
In February, Rockefeller promoted Outlaw, a former Morgan Stanley manager, to lead recruiting efforts as president of the wealth unit.
Rockefeller manages $224 billion in client assets across its family office, investment management and investment banking units, according to the announcement.
