Sallie Krawcheck, former head of the brokerage units at Citigroup Inc. and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, stepped into the lion’s den on Wednesday to downplay the impact on wirehouses of the so-called breakaway broker movement.
Ms. Krawcheck maintained her position despite pointed questions from Mindy Diamond, an industry recruiter who conducted the interview and has helped wirehouse advisers go independent.
UBS is increasing its recruiting efforts, offering top advisors deals of up to 550% of annual revenue while targeting experienced private bankers.
Advisors at some of the largest firms in the country are leaving, and not in a trickle. In 2024 alone, more than 9,600 experienced advisors changed firms, according to industry data from Diamond Consultants.
