RBC Wealth Management has notched another recruiting win, luring a Florida team with $560 million in client assets away from Merrill Lynch.
Coatoam Wealth Management Group, led by Managing Director Brian Coatoam, is joining RBC’s new office in Winter Park, Fla, the company said.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Coatoam Wealth Management Group to our rapidly growing Florida complex,” Ken Ross, director of RBC’s Florida operations, said in a statement. “Brian and his team are incredibly well-respected in the area and known for working closely with their clients to develop the best strategies to help them achieve their unique goals.”
Coatoam is a 24-year industry veteran who broke into the business with the now-defunct Advantage Trading Group before lengthy stints with Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch, according to the online database BrokerCheck.
Coatoam praised RBC for its “family-like culture, as well as the management team who truly believe that clients come first.”
He leads a six-person team coming to RBC, including vice presidents Derek Grimm and Ryan Plank. Coatoam, Grimm, and Plank are each Certified Financial Planners.
