Rockefeller Capital Management is adding a team of top New York advisors led by Angela Mwanza to its wealth management division. The six-person practice, to be known as Oryx Legacy Partners, was formerly at UBS , where it was called Evergreen Wealth Management.
Mwanza, who is originally from Zambia, was a private wealth advisor and family office consultant at UBS, which she joined in 2008. Before that, she was a private banker at Lehman Brothers, and Fleet Private Client Services. She began her career at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in 2001. When interviewed in Barron’s Advisor in September, 2019, her then nine-person team managed $1.2 billion for 25 ultrahigh-net-worth families.
Mwanza has focused on helping ultrawealthy clients manage risk and liquidity, often integrating philanthropy in financial planning and socially responsible and impact strategies in portfolios. Rockefeller says she is one of the earliest advisors to embrace sustainable and impact investments.
Jordan Powell, her partner, is also joining Rockefeller from UBS. He has more than 13 years in wealth management, according to BrokerCheck, the database of brokers run by industry self-regulator Finra. He joined UBS Private Wealth Management in 2014 from BNP Paribas where he was a vice president in global equities, commodities and derivatives.
