Industry recruiters as well as executives and field leaders at large brokerage firms are hoping that recent stock market volatility could nudge some advisors to make their next career move.
Executives at regional and wirehouse firms alike said that the uncertainty presents opportunity as advisors seek stability in employers. Brokers acting in self-interest hope to capitalize on high trailing-12 month revenue to maximize recruiting offers before declining equity values lower their asset-based fees.
Louis Diamond, a recruiter in New Jersey, said he has not yet seen “a ton” of movement “since advisors are really heads down and focused on their practices.”
“But if there is a prolonged downturn or a long period of choppiness, I do expect to hear that from a contingent of advisors,” he added. “It will balance out since many advisors prefer to wait until things rebound and clients are feeling more secure.”
