Transition Announcement: Two Edward Jones Advisors Choose the Freedom to Build

The Move at a Glance

  • Who: Blake Cason and Dan Boehm, two longtime Edward Jones advisors.
  • What: In separate transitions, Blake joined Steward Partners and Dan affiliated with LPL Financial.
  • Shared Motivation: Both sought greater freedom to shape the future of their businesses while maintaining the support of established platforms.
  • Why It Matters: Their decisions reflect a growing desire among advisors to build businesses around their own long-term vision—whether that means greater autonomy, expanded services, future acquisitions, or increased participation in the value they create.
  • Diamond’s Role: Diamond Consultants guided each advisor through a thoughtful, multi-year due diligence process, helping them evaluate options and identify the models best aligned with their individual goals.

Two longtime Edward Jones advisors have chosen different paths for the next chapters of their careers.

In separate transitions, Blake Cason joined Steward Partners, while Dan Boehm joined LPL Financial. Although they selected different firms and different business models, both were motivated by a similar goal: creating greater freedom to shape how they build their businesses in the years ahead—while continuing to benefit from the support and infrastructure of established platforms.

Building on Strong Foundations

Both advisors began their careers at Edward Jones and credit the firm with helping them develop as professionals and build successful businesses.

Blake spent 12 years with the firm, while Dan built his practice there over a 15-year career. Each established deep client relationships and thriving businesses before beginning to evaluate what they wanted the next chapters of their careers to look like.

Their decisions were never about leaving a firm they respected. Instead, it reflected an evolution in how they viewed their businesses and the opportunities they wanted to pursue over the years ahead.

Blake Cason: Greater Autonomy Without Starting From Scratch

As Blake’s practice matured, he became increasingly interested in having greater ownership over the direction of his business. While Edward Jones had discussed future opportunities for advisors to purchase portions of their practices, Blake felt those opportunities remained uncertain and further away than he had hoped.

Rather than build an independent firm entirely on his own, Blake wanted a model that combined entrepreneurial freedom with an established platform.

After evaluating multiple affiliation options, he chose Steward Partners, attracted by its boutique culture, advisor-first environment, equity opportunity, and employee model that provided the infrastructure he wanted without requiring him to reinvent the wheel. The combination allowed him to gain greater autonomy while remaining focused on clients and future growth.

Dan Boehm: Creating a Business Built Around His Vision

For Dan, the decision was about creating a business with greater flexibility and long-term potential.

After 15 years at Edward Jones, he wanted the ability to establish his own brand, expand the services he offered, including tax preparation, and create a more holistic experience for clients. He also envisioned growing through acquisitions over time and wanted a platform that would give him the freedom and economics to pursue that strategy.

Dan focused his search on independent models before ultimately selecting LPL Financial. The structure offered the independence he sought while allowing him to maximize the economics of his transition and retain the flexibility to build his business on his own terms. Just as importantly, he believed LPL’s platform would provide the operational support he needed today while preserving optionality for future growth.

Working with Diamond Consultants

Every advisor’s path is different. Blake and Dan reached different conclusions because they had different goals.

Diamond Consultants worked alongside each advisor to understand those goals, educate them on the evolving landscape, evaluate available options, and determine which opportunities best aligned with their long-term visions. The process was never about encouraging a move—it was about helping each advisor make the right decision for their business, their clients, and their future.

We’re grateful that both Blake and Dan entrusted Diamond Consultants to guide these important decisions and wish them continued success as they build the next chapters of their businesses.
