Registered investment advisor Robert Harris, a wirehouse veteran, believes being independent is better for advisors.
Harris is a senior wealth advisor at Avidian Wealth Solutions, a Houston-based RIA firm. He spent 19 years with UBS before moving to Avidian in 2019.
Harris shared his story of leaving the wirehouse for independence on a podcast where he spoke with Louis Diamond, president of recruitment firm Diamond Consultants.
UBS is increasing its recruiting efforts, offering top advisors deals of up to 550% of annual revenue while targeting experienced private bankers.
Advisors at some of the largest firms in the country are leaving, and not in a trickle. In 2024 alone, more than 9,600 experienced advisors changed firms, according to industry data from Diamond Consultants.
