RBC Wealth Management made its biggest team hire ever, picking up what the firm describes as a “powerhouse” group of advisors from UBS that oversaw $5.5 billion in client assets.
The team includes Leslie Lauer, who is ranked on Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors and Top 100 Women Financial Advisors for 2023. The team, dubbed the ESOP Group, is ranked among Barron’s Top 100 Private Wealth Management Teams for 2023.
The ESOP Group has expertise in employee stock ownership plans and provides advice to corporate clients on cash management, repurchase obligation objectives, executive compensation, and other topics, according to RBC, which said that only 1.4% of the team’s assets are institutional. The group also advises clients on business succession planning, according to its profile on UBS’ website, which was still visible on Friday afternoon.
The 10-person team is based in Atlanta and was founded in 1989. Lauer said the team made the move because of RBC’s corporate culture and resources. “RBC Wealth Management’s supportive leadership and culture will allow us the freedom to focus on what we do best—helping our clients transition their businesses,” she said.
