With $4.8B in client assets and a shared vision for a modern, advisor-led firm, Margaret Wright and Bradley Martin have launched MartinWright Advisory in Atlanta. Diamond Consultants advised the team throughout the process, helping turn a shared vision into one of the year’s most notable RIA launches.
A Unique Partnership with a Shared Vision
What makes this launch distinctive isn’t just its scale but the combination of two accomplished leaders from different corners of the industry.
Margaret, formerly with Truist, led a $2.8B private-banking practice serving sophisticated families. Bradley, previously head of wealth management at Balentine, an established RIA, managed $2B in client assets and a team of 11 professionals.
Instead of launching separate firms, they chose to combine their strengths—Margaret bringing her depth in UHNW private banking and Bradley adding his experience in private wealth management within the RIA world. Their goal: create a next-generation RIA that blends both disciplines under one roof.
We’re really building what we hope to be the next great RIA in Atlanta,” Margaret shared with Citywire. “Bradley and I wanted to build this as an advisor-led firm, and our foremost focus outside of our clients is talent.
A Thoughtful Due Diligence Process
Before deciding on their final path, the founders explored several approaches to independence:
- Building a standalone RIA from the ground up, handling all operations and compliance internally.
- Joining an existing RIA to leverage shared infrastructure, but with less autonomy.
- Partnering with a platform provider to gain scale and support while maintaining control and equity.
After a comprehensive evaluation, Sanctuary Wealth, in partnership with Tru Independence, emerged as the forerunner. The combined platform – strengthened by Sanctuary’s 2024 acquisition of Tru – offered the infrastructure, compliance oversight, and technology needed to accelerate growth while preserving the freedom to define their own culture and strategy.
MartinWright Advisory launched through Sanctuary Wealth’s Tru Independence division and will custody with Goldman Sachs Advisor Solutions. The model enables Margaret and Bradley to focus on clients, growth, and talent development while relying on robust middle- and back-office support. The firm has already made several strategic hires ahead of launch.
This is separate and distinct from many new RIAs in the market,” said Bradley. “It’s not about how much AUM follows in six or twelve months—it’s about building a lasting platform where advisors like us can find a permanent home.
