In building a business guiding a select group of ultra-high net worth families, Angela Mwanza, Jordon Powell, and their team found they were limited at UBS when it came to ESG investing and serving the additional needs of their clients.
Angela and her team are widely recognized as being among the industry’s leading purpose-driven wealth management professionals, and we are pleased to welcome them to Rockefeller.

Over the course of more than two decades, Angela Mwanza developed an industry-leading practice guiding a hand-picked group of ultra-high net worth families. It was a path forged upon fundamental beliefs around the management of wealth that developed through Angela’s personal and professional life—growing up in Zambia in the 1970s and watching the economy falter, and later cultivated while employed at Lehman Brothers during the firm’s collapse in 2008.
Angela’s experiences led her to become an early adopter in the world of sustainable and impact investing, which served as the foundation for the business she built with Jordan Powell at UBS.
With 15 years at the firm for Angela, and 17 years for Jordan, they continually engaged in conversation with Diamond Consultants to stay abreast of changes in the industry landscape. While they were typically “happy enough,” they were intrigued by the multi-family office space and potential of greater control of their business.
Having grown to managing $850mm in client assets, they started to feel limitations in the core area of their business: ESG investing, philanthropy, and guiding their clients to use their money to better the world. And they realized that UBS’s ESG and ALTs platform was far more limited than what they might find elsewhere. Plus, as their client relationships grew, the families and business owners they worked with asked for additional services that they could not provide under the auspices of UBS.
The idea of removing these limitations motivated the team to connect with us and identify how they could expand their capabilities. A nearly two-year due diligence process spanned the independent space to build their own multi-family office or the potential of joining an already established firm.
While they had an interest in building their own firm, they didn’t want to take their eye off what was most important to them: serving their clients.
With that in mind, they became intrigued by Rockefeller Global Family Office. The firm demonstrated that their business models were well-aligned. Through its philanthropy arm, asset management business, and buying power with managers, Rockefeller was able to offer bespoke access and resources they couldn’t find elsewhere—nor could they build on their own without sacrificing their time, resources, and ability to guide their clients.
We are pleased to announce that Oryx Legacy Partners joined Rockefeller on August 11, 2023. The team also includes Wenyi “Jason” Wang, CFA, Vice President and Wealth Manager; Przemyslaw “Shem” Filipek, Associate Vice President and Wealth Manager; and Allissa Purkey, Senior Client Associate.
“The team’s extensive experience as trusted advisors helping business owners, investors, and their families navigate the complexities of wealth strengthens our ability to attract and serve clients in the New York Metro region and beyond,” said Michael Outlaw, National Field Director of Rockefeller Global Family Office, in the firm’s press release.
Diamond Consultants is pleased to have represented Angela, Jordan, and their team and looks forward to hearing more about their success in the future.
