Forbes-listed Top Next Gen and Top Woman Advisor generating $1.5mm annual revenue left the wirehouse to build NewSpring Wealth Partners in Minneapolis.
“Once I got a glimpse of what is possible in the independent space, I couldn’t unsee how much better I would be able to serve and communicate with clients than continuing to work as an employee,” said Larson. “With Sanctuary, I’ve found a true partner who will support my practice, helping me empower mid-career professionals, especially women, who, like me, are starting on new journeys.”
Kristin Larson
NewSpring Wealth Partners
Kristin Larson’s career in wealth management started like many other financial advisors: A couple years in the back office and as a paraplanner at Ameriprise before becoming a Client Associate at Wells Fargo Advisors, then moving to UBS 9 years ago where she worked her way up to the title of Senior Vice President – Wealth Management.
Yet here’s the difference: Kristin is one of those rare rockstar advisors. Young, growing like crazy, passionate about client service, and unafraid to roll up her sleeves and work hard.
And it showed: Kristin was generating $1.5mm in annual revenue, and named among the Forbes Top Next-Gen Wealth Advisors (Best-in-State, 2023, 2024) and Forbes Top Women Wealth Advisors (Best-in-State, 2024).
It’s that incredible energy that made Kristin perceptive to the impact of changes at UBS. While the ever-increasing red tape and bureaucracy was frustrating, the cost-cutting and inability to get sales support was a major catalyst that drove her to consider change.
Independence was intriguing to Kristin—particularly drawn to taking agency over her professional life and no longer being at the mercy of mandates typical in the wirehouse world.
She first connected with Diamond Consultants in 2023, but after a few conversations, we helped her uncover that she wasn’t ready to make a change just yet. We stayed in touch, answering questions along the way, and when it came time, helped guide her through exploration.
We cast a wide net at the start of due diligence, looking at both W-2 and independent models, then narrowed it down quickly to the independent models: IBDs and RIA platforms/supported independence firms.
Ultimately, Kristin was attracted to Sanctuary Wealth, which combined her preference for independence with the support she was missing in her wirehouse days—which is ironic since, generally, independence is often thought of as providing less support.
The turnkey, open architecture platform and overall sophistication of Sanctuary, paired with owning 100% of her business, gave her a trusted and experienced partner to help launch, run, and grow NewSpring Wealth Partners.
“I’ve found a true partner who will support my practice, helping me empower mid-career professionals, especially women, who, like me, are starting on new journeys. Access to best-in-class technology, solutions, and coaching coupled with the freedom and flexibility to grow my brand as I see fit, made Sanctuary the perfect place to launch NewSpring,” Kristin said in a press statement.
“Her accomplishments so early in her career are admirable – already being recognized as one of the top next-gen and top woman advisors in the industry,” said Vince Fertitta, President of Sanctuary Wealth.
Diamond Consultants is pleased to have represented Kristin and looks forward to hearing more about her success in the future.
